According to Nassau County Police detectives, the male subject entered Alice’s of Oyster Bay, a cafe and consignment shop on Berry Hill Road, and removed a purse from the store, passing all points of purchase while making no attempt to pay for the merchandise around 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 2.

After exiting the store, the man was approached by a 43-year-old male clerk, who was then placed in fear by the subject as he reached into his front right pocket while threatening the use of a weapon, said police.

He then fled the store and 911 was called with a description of the subject.

Responding officers began a search and located the suspect, Isaiah Towles, age 23, of Queens, on the Oyster Bay train station platform and placed him into custody without further incident, said police.

Towles was charged with:

  • First-degree robbery,
  • Fourth-degree grand larceny,
  • Third-degree menacing.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Mineola on Saturday, April 3.
